The Crossroad Shawl

I love texture – I’m not sure if you can tell from my shawl pattern, but texture is one of my favorite design elements. I also adore post stitches – they can provide such rich detail to crocheted items. In designing this shawl, I wanted to use post stitches but somehow get them on the diagonal. I also did not want to have to seam! So I created a shawl that is unique in it’s design – you create the center and one wing, then add the other wing seamlessly. This created a slightly asymmetrical design but lovely texture and wonderful color pooling!

I used about 1250 yards of fingering weight yarn and I love the color I chose! I recommend using either a solid, tonal or variegated. Speckled yarn will hide the texture. I used the color Devotion from The Frosted Stitch. This color was part of her Echoes Collection, which is just stunning! Here’s a link to the collection if you’d like to peruse it yourself. I am not an affiliate, I just love her yarn!

If you’d like to purchase the pattern, you can find it here on Ravelry or here on Payhip.

Many of my testers made mutlicolor versions – I would say these are more for the intermediate crocheter, while the original single color version is for the advanced beginner. You can see the tester versions on Instagram by searching for #crossroadshawl.

As always, I’ve created a video tutorial to help guide you through the process. You can find that below on my YouTube channel. And if you haven’t already, subscribe to my channel to keep getting tutorials!

This is what you’ll need for the shawl:

  • 1250 yards of fingering weight yarn (not including tassels)
  • 3.5mm (US E/4) traditional crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • 1-2 Stitch Markers as needed
  • Blocking pins and mats
