Earlier this year, I was asked by Cesium Yarn to design an item for their Clue Mystery Box. I elected to work with their Solutions box, which was 1 full skein of fingering weight yarn and three minis. I wanted to showcase the beauty of the main skein, and designed a triangle shawl that was beginner friendly and full of texture – hence, the Solutions Shawlette!
To see the tester versions, check out #solutionsshawlette on Instagram, and follow me there to see what I’m designing next!
After making the original, I was so in love with this pattern that I wanted to try making one that faded beautifully together. I then designed a second, longer version that is made with two skeins of fingering weight yarn.
As always, there is a video tutorial to guide you through the process:
The drape of this shawl is just perfect! I think this will be my most worn shawl this coming winter.
You can purchase this pattern here on Ravelry, or here on Payhip.
For this pattern, you will need the following:
- 4 different colors of fingering weight yarn.
- Main Color (C1): 463 yds
- C2 – C4: 23-46 yards each (see below)
- 5 mm (US H/8) Tunisian Crochet Hook with 16” to 22” cable and stopper
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- 1-2 Stitch Markers (optional)
- Blocking supplies
Yarn Notes: I used the “Solutions” Set from Cesium Yarn’s Clue Mystery Box in their Superwash Merino Wool base. (75% Superwash and 25% Nylon, 463 yards/100g). The colors and yardages I used are:
- C1: The Solution – 463 yards
- C2: Colonel Mustard – 46 yards
- C3: The Wrench – 33 yards
- C4: The Library – 23 yards
For the 2 color version, you will need the following for yarn:
- Color 1: 420 yards
- Color 2: 400 yards
Yarn Notes: I used two colorways from Cesium Yarn – C1 is Claire Green on their SW Merino in Sock (75% superwash Merino wool, 25% nylon, 463 yards/100 grams) and C2 is Dragon Hoard on their Merino-Silk Sock (80% Merino wool, 20% silk, 400 yards/100 grams).
I hope you love this pattern as much as I do!
Happy crocheting!
xoxo Serena
