The Diamonds in the Rough Shawl

Tunisian crochet has become my heart – I love the drape of the fabric and the amazing different textures you can create. I think you can see that in this shawl. The beautiful diamonds are created with Tunisian post stitches, and worked separately in a long rectangle before working into the side of the rectangle to create the rest of the triangle shape.

You can purchase this pattern here on Ravelry.

As this in an intermediate pattern, there are stitch diagrams, photos and two video tutorials to help you with this pattern. The first video is on how to do the smock stitch. If you aren’t familiar with this stitch, it’s amazing with the most incredible drape. I think I’m going to design so much with this stitch!

The second video tutorial takes you through the part that makes this design intermediate – the diamond cables. My testers found the video very insightful – here it is for you too:

For the shawl, you’ll need 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn, each at least 437 yards each. For this sample, I used yarn from Sunshine Queen FIber Arts, and for a temporary time, she’ll have kits available too! There’s a code in the pattern that will provide a 15% discount on these kits!

I used a 5 mm hook, but there are two gauge swatches in the pattern so you may need to adjust your hook during the different textures of the pattern.

I hope you are falling in love with Tunisian Crochet as much as I am and that you enjoy making this shawl!

Happy crocheting!

xoxo Serena
