The Starburst Shawl

The Starburst Shawl is a fun, beginner friendly Tunisian crochet shawl. This shawl has a fun meditative repeat and only uses 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn.

For this sample, I used yarn from The Frosted Stitch in her colorways December’s Eve and Gingham. My testers also had some excellent color choices – you can see them here on Instagram:

As usual, I made a YouTube tutorial to guide you through the process. This time, there is an intro on shawl shapes and how to achieve different shaping. This is because this pattern and video were for the Tunisian Crochet Summit, which was hosted by Ned and Mimi.

To purchase the pattern, check out Ravelry and Payhip. And here’s more details about the pattern and what you’ll need:

  • 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn, 400 yards each (see yarn notes below)
  • 5 mm (US H/8) Tunisian crochet hook with 16” to 22” cable and stopper
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • 1-2 Stitch markers (optional)
  • Blocking supplies

Yarn Notes:  For this pattern, you will need either 1 tonal and 1 variegate/speckled, or 2 tonals.  C2 is the tonal and C1 is the variegate in this pattern.

I hope you found this pattern and tutorial helpful. If you want to keep up with my crochet adventures, follow me here on Instagram.

Happy Crocheting!
