The Artemis Capelet

Have you tried Tunisian in the Round? I was initially intimidated, but once I got the hang of it, I fell in love! I wanted to create a pattern that would be easy for folks who are new to Tunisian in the round. I also wanted something full of drape, so I used the Tunisian Simple Stitch with fingering weight yarn.

For my sample, I used slub yarn from Made by Hailey Bailey in her Archer Fade. This fade reminds me of a stunning summer sunset! Also, this pattern uses a fun fading technique to achieve a smoother fade.

This was my first time working with slub and Tunisian crochet. I learned I had to manipulate the little bobbles to more of them faced the right side as opposed to the wrong side. But I love the way it turned out and would definitely work with slub yarn again.

Also, this pattern is very forgiving since it’s made in a cowl fashion and meant to gather around your neck. Just keep working in a circle and doing the increases, and you’ll be fine! This pattern is available on Ravelry and Payhip.

This pattern is size inclusive and is available in 4 mixed sizes: 1 (XS/SM), 2 (M/L), 3 (XL/2XL) and 4 (3X-5X). There are also recommendations for broad shoulders or for height. As always, there is a video tutorial to guide you through the process!

The testers for this pattern were amazing! Check out the post on Instagram below, and follow me here to keep up on what I’m designing.

For this pattern, you will need the following:

  • 3 different colors of fingering weight yarn that fade together
    • Yardages are included on page 3
  • 2 x 5.5 mm (US H9) Tunisian crochet hooks with 22” to 40” cable (or hook to achieve gauge)
  • 4.5 mm (US G7) traditional crochet hook
  • 4 Stitch markers (M1, MA, MB, MC)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Blocking supplies

And if you are curious about sizing, here’s a schematic about the final dimensions and sizing:

I hope you find this information helpful and love this pattern as much as I do!

Happy Crocheting!
